Happy New Year~! OFF AIR 2 has more New Year’s stories about Kei and Ushio (post Volume 3!), but alas, I’m working my way through Side Profiles right now. We will get to it eventually~ But I will release the next story from OFF AIR 2 soon, after I edit and proofread~
Shousetsu Dear+ announced the new Yes/No story is a continuation of Fusaide (Vol 3 of the spinoff) called Hiraite. It features all the Asahi TV guys (Shitara, Sakae, Kei, Tatsuki, Shin, and Asou), and no spoilers, picks up the story directly from the ending of Fusaide.
I’m half disappointed and half relieved that the story isn’t about Kei and Ushio. Half disappointed because Kei and Ushio are my favorite and I always want to read more of them, but relieved because the way she concluded Where Home Is is perfect, and I don’t know how Ichiho-sensei can outdo herself without sacrificing what I love about them. I’m content with reading side stories about them where the stakes are lower, and she doesn’t have to ratchet up the dramatics to outdo Volume 3. Anyway, she is always writing doujinshi about Kei and Ushio, so I can always get my fix that way.
But I am excited for the new story! *prepares the tissues*
I’m toying with the idea of changing the title choice for Fusaide from Cover My Eyes (fill me in) to Block it Out. There is a big reason why I initially felt Cover My Eyes was a good choice, but hmmm, I will read Hiraite first before deciding how I might want to adjust the titles. Hiraite means Open Up or like Spread it Open.
More Yes ka No ka Hanbun ka anime news! Abe Atsushi and Kawahara Yoshihisa will be reprising their roles as Kei and Ushio from the Drama CD!
The anime will screen Winter 2020 at BL FES, which seems to be a new BL film festival event chaired by Morikawa Toshiyuki. I wonder if the movie will cover the YesNo titled story and Both For You, which has Tatsuki in it, from the first book. But still, I’ll take whatever we can get~ The first preview will be in Spring 2020!
Today’s release is from Volume 2 of Off Air! The first story comes from a doujinshi that picks up from the morning after Kei and Ushio have their first night together. Cue lots of awkwardness.
Yes ka No ka Hanbun Ka placed 1st in the Happy Love category, and Yuki yo Ringo no Ka no Gotoku placed 1st in Heart-racing Love category. Kiss and Futtara Dosshaburi also have mentions in the Tearjerker category.
There seems to be complaints with the list though, lol, because the novels don’t seem to fit the categories very well. I’ve read a number of the novels, and they do seem kinda random. Like Utsukushii Kare for 1st in the Tearjerker category. Very random. I remember laughing through the entire 2nd half of the book because of the twist in that story. I wouldn’t call Futtara Dosshaburi a tearjerker either. It’s more the Mature Love category, imo.
Anyway, it’s all a ploy to get people to buy books from honto… which I fell hook, line, and sinker for. When there’s the prospect of new short stories from Ichiho-sensei and others, I just have to get them~
Ichiho-sensei posted a doodle from Takemiya-sensei explaining Kei’s outfit on the cover of Off Air 2!
Kei has bedhead hair! So cute~ The inner shirt is an oversized white turtleneck sweatshirt. The overshirt is a warm gray boatneck knit with raglan sleeves and slits at the sides (probably cashmere — expensive💢). It belongs to Ushio. Hee, boyfriend shirt~ The pants are beige-colored shorts that hit around his knees.
There isn’t a lot of description for Kei’s clothing in the series, and the illustrations usually show him wearing his duffle coat over his clothes. But there’s a short story in Off Air 2 that describes his favorite piece of clothing in a little more in detail. It’s a tracksuit like what a few comedians (e.g. Tetsu & Tomo) like to wear. 😂😂😂 I’m dying so much.
