Extra 5: This Night
“Souta, have you decided what you want to ask Santa for Christmas this year? You better write your letter to him soon. What is it that you want?”
“…Sakae?”
“Okay, let’s write a letter to Souma then. That he should come over and play.”
“I wish that I could get another Sakae. That way I could give the other one to Uncle Sousuke.”
“…So that happened the other day.”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“About how adorable my son is. Well, it’s impossible to split you into two, but you should seriously come over and visit. Anyway, talk to you later. Good night.”
Was it really okay to chalk the story up to the kid acting cute?
His phone was next to the pillow, but the finger that ended the call did not belong to Sakae.
“Even if there were two of you, I wouldn’t let him have either one of you.”
“I don’t recall giving you the authority to decide such a thing. And don’t eavesdrop on my phone conversation.”
“If you don’t want me to listen in on you, then don’t put it on speakerphone.”
I’m too exhausted to hold the damn phone.
With Sakae faced down on the bed, Shitara leaned down diagonally across his back.
“You’re heavy.”
“That’s just too cute.”
“What is?”
“That he can innocently say ‘another Sakae.’ It’s cute how he doesn’t know the fear or joy of something that’s irreplaceable.”
“The thought process of brats and perverts are beyond my comprehension.”
“Hmm?”
“I don’t have the slightest clue why you’re both so attached to me.”
Whether it was his appearance or personality, they were all negative factors on his popularity with children. Even though Sakae had worked on the kid’s favorite variety show, it was one thing to be crazy about the performers, but it was entirely ridiculous to fawn over the producers behind the scenes.
“Huh? You don’t know? How silly of you.”
“Shut up. And you’re heavy.”
Sakae tried to slap at him with a hand behind his back, but Shitara caught it by the wrist. And then he felt the touch of lips on his palm.
“Because you’re someone who thinks fondly of his beloved papa. For all this time, no matter what.”
“Well, that goes the same for you too.”
“And I am loved. So much that he would share a second one of you with me.” Shitara lowered his voice and laughed, “Not that I’d give you to him.”
His breath tickled the base of Sakae’s fingers.
“Even if there were a hundred of you… I still wouldn’t give you to him~”
“Quit conjuring up nightmarish fantasies.”
“Why not? We could make about 10 different shows. Oh, but that’s not enough to fill up 24 hours though.”
Why the hell is he operating under the assumption that he’d put me all to work?
“What? So will you need a hundred of yourself too?”
“There will just be one of me. Why should I share all the fun with other versions of myself?”
It was just nonsensical mutterings, but Sakae had to laugh at the crazy answer.
“You’re messed up.”
“And you’re a bad boy,” Shitara said, lightly biting the fingers in his hand.
“So that’s why Santa’s never visited me.”
“It makes sense.”
“Well that’s a relief.”
Beyond the light of Father Christmas’s love and benevolence, they hid themselves, ignored everything around them, tangled with one another, and slept. And that was how they spent their night.
Souta!! He is too adorable! Shitara is so possessive in a cute way, lol.
